Doh--You caught me redhanded and redheaded [Jul. 14th, 2009|06:52 pm]

I got a parking ticket today that I SO deserved. I cracked up when I saw it because I knew I was a stinker. When I went to the doctor I used the sticker from yesterday because I was mad that I wasted my money and was in so much pain I didn't want to walk far. Well, I got caught, but the $35 is almost worth it. I got my other parking ticket in the same spot. Guess it goes to show I never learn. ;)

So funny. My dad always speeds on the road to his house, has for years. I asked him if he was worried about getting a ticket and he said that, as often as he drives that road and how well he knows the road, it is worth the occasional ticket (he can afford it).

When I saw this ticket I knew I was being sneaky and I'm normally not that immature, so I'll pay it. I know I was being pouty and should have paid the $2 to park close. Now I owe $35.

$2! Wow. Here I'm lucky to find $5-$6. Under my building it's $16!!! Sheesh.

Yeah, it was only for 30 minutes in Ballard. Downtown is insane.

Have you looked into getting a handicap tag?

Usually my pain is well handled. I don't want to go that route unless I have no other choice. The exercise is good for my weight control.

Well just cause you have it doesn't mean you have to use it all the time!

True. Those of us with chronic illness though have to always walk the thin line between self-limitation and reasonable help. Defining yourself as disabled is not a minor shift. My focus remains on doing all I can to keep working and living my best possible life even with chronic pain/illness.

Well, the way I figure it is, taking care of yourself means respecting your body, knowing when to push yourself, and knowing when to really take it easy on yourself. Knowing when to hold 'em, and when to fold 'em. :)

It's very difficult and time consuming to prove that you are disabled legally. I fight for the rights of those who are unable to do otherwise whenever possible and I'm thankful that I still have the choice NOT to go down that path. Basically, for me it is a line in the sand I choose not to cross. It encourages me to keep trying to function the best I can.
