Midnight started using the litter box and drinking significantly increased water on his own! First time in a week. If he can start eating on his own he might slowly recover past this acute state!! It's amazing! It's so against the odds that he's drinking on his own and the use of the litter box again means his kidneys are putting up a fight!
have you tried baby food? specifically the chicken and broth one from Beech Nut? my kitty loves it when she is sick. it's just a pudding/sauce of chicken.
Love you to pieces,
nice pics. I agree with your friend, you get prettier by the year!
Thanks! We have tried warmed mashed up chicken, tuna, 5 kinds of wet foods cold, hot, in between, you name it. They even gave us 4 free cans at Mud Bay where they know us trying to get him to eat. We just forced pepcid AC and his coating meds down his throat (he hates it) and in 30 minutes we are going to lay out the gourmet cat spread to try to entice him to eat. It will have ALL of the above. If he doesnt eat at home he may get one more trip to the emergency vet to be force fed and given more fluids since there is a chance he could make it, but it's SO expensive and it stresses him out, so hope he eats.
You know, if it were to come to that, make them SHOW ou how to tube feed him. That way you DON'T have to take him to the ER vet for them to do it for you. It is not hard at all to do, and will save you lots of $$. I have done it for cats and dogs alike when they were ill.
I'l glad ne seems to be perking up a bit.
They were talking about installing a feeding tube which we've been advised against by everyone we know who's gone through it. Since he's drinking now I feel like he'll be ready to soon eat.
Kitties really DO have 9 lives!!
I am so glad to hear this :) Go, Midnight, Go!
I am proud of the little guy! I really would love for him to recover so we are praying hard.
This absolutely makes my day. :) YAY Midnight! You rally, little fella!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you guys.
