I am sooooooo happy for you in this Lanette!!! YAY!!!
It is delightful to be comfortable even if it is just because I'm recovering from surgery, but at least we know that it IS possible for me to get some relief from this pain, even though at this time it takes a strong dose. At least that information can be helpful to my doctors.
AND it makes you a little more giggly :)
I'd go so far as to say WAY more giggly. Unless I stand up. That puts a damper on my mood real quick and I remember why I'm to stay off of it. Only the first 5 days should hurt really badly.
"Only the first 5 days should hurt really badly"
ok, ok, just the first 5 days... that sounds reasonable - NOT!! ACK
Just try to stay off your feet :)
Unfortunately, it means that the halloween party is out. :( Anyhow, he DID give me enough pills, thank God. I have enough to take 2 every 3 hours the first 5 days. Likely it will still hurt after that, but not as bad. He said after day 3 it will be better each day.
It's worth missing the party if it helps with your pain in the long run... 2 every 3 hours? - That's a lot of pills! But better that you have them even if you don't take them all ;)
The risk of me injuring it is just too high. He told me if that pin moves it is bad news. Keeping the toe still is key to it healing well long term.
I WISH I could say I feel confident I won't need all of them, but I tried taking just one of the pills and I could feel my heart beat all the way down my toe bone and thought,...ok,..too soon and took the other one! Wee! I'm feeling a little too good. :) I should watch a funny movie and really enjoy being out of pain while holding still.
Of course it's too soon, DUH!!! LOL !!!
True, but a girl has got to pee! :) I'm allowed to walk on it for that reason, and none other for the next couple of days. When they told me I was not to even use lipgloss I laughed. That is harder for me than not eating/drinking!
WHAAAAT? No lip gloss because of a toe surgery? What are they smoking?!
Well, in case they had to get me breathing "stat" they didn't want makeup on my lips I guess. :) Ha! I snuck it in. Contraband.
Your chili looks good! Now that I'm not in pain or nauseated I'm starving suddenly.
Yeah, for me, no lipgloss is a deal breaker. Last time I was in pre-op, I had them running around looking for lip balm because my gloss wore off.
The chili is DAMN good. Wish you could have some :)
Did you get the package I sent or an email about tracking info yet? (it was fed exed).
NO! I've tracked it daily, they keep pushing back the delivery date. It's now in a facility 25 minutes from my house, now due to be delivered tomorrow, and I WANT IT NOW!!!!
Ooooo! Let me know when it finally makes its way to your hot little hands.
"allegedly" as of 6:55 AM, it's on a vehicle for delivery :)
I got it!!! In fact, I received the fedex delivery email this morning and went home at lunch to pick it up!! FUN BOX!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I couldn't even go through it all because I was driving back to work and checking it out at the same time, but OMG - It's the funnest box I've ever received!!! The CDs are great - my car wouldn't play them, but my work computer does - listening to one now :) Thank you for the sweet card, it's sitting on my desk to remind me of what a good and true friend I have in Seattle. (BTW, I confirmed last night that my company has 4 apartment complex properties in WA, don't remember the cities, but pretty sure that one is a Seattle suburb. So maybe I could orchestrate a west coast business trip, just need to figure out a reason!)
OK, so just last night I was digging around trying to find my fuzzy pink slippers - couldn't find them anywhere - and now I have HOT PINK slippers! I'm already wearing the lipgloss (nice color!) and it's hooked to my key chain - what a great idea!!! I just threw out an empty diffuser, and put on my shopping list to get a new one! ha! I GOT ONE!!! Metallic pens, LOVE! Cute notepad - I need one for my purse, I usually just take a pad of postits but they usually fall apart and stick in everything, so no more of that! Bath balls - never tried and always meant to - so now there's no excuse! I've always wanted to try the wax potpourri, and now I can - and I LOVE yankee candle co., Nailpolish is GORGEOUS! - If I have time, maybe I'll do my nails tonight. And/or toes.
I'm sure there's more that I missed, because I don't think I reached the bottom of the box yet! This was an awesome package - thank you so much, I really needed a pick-me-up today and this was a fantastic one!!!
(The world wouldn't need anti-depressants if just everyone got to look forward to a package like this arriving in their mail! :)
Yay! I am so glad you liked it. It basically made my entire day to put it together. Totally fun. :)
Well, it's making my entire day today, so definitely worth your time! ... and if you knew the day I've been having, you'd be impressed. I'm glad it came today vs. yesterday, it's taking my mind off some crappy stuff :(
Oh, and how uncanny is it that I LOVE ALL OF IT?! I am very hard please when it comes to presents - very picky! My soon-to-be-EX Inlaws never did figure me out :) And here you send me a box OVERFLOWING with stuff I love or want to try. And HOW DID YOU KNOW I NEEDED PINK SLIPPERS? In the exact fabric I had in the past and would have bought again??!! Spooky Lanette Voodoo, that's how!
yay! The first slippers that called my name were light pink (they came in 6 colors), but I thought you needed hot pink more. I'm so glad you are having fun with the girly stuff!
It cracked me up, but I must say in woe that the next morning is no fun. Waking up without a drug in site with a fused toe. Oooouch. I can tell they operated on the whole throbbing toe now. It is amazing though if I put it up, and stay OFF of the thing and take the prescribed drugs to have no pain at all for once.
Note to self: Try not to panic. One unfortunate side effect is slight paranoia (poor Bel). ;)
Ah, and that explains why you're up so early :(
I woke up due to MAJOR throbbing. I now am waiting for drugs to work and have the toe more elevated. It was not as minor a surgery as hoped since they had to use the pin.
yeah, waking up with pain is the worst. I used to set my alarm to take the pain meds regularly, even if that meant waking up at 4 in the morning for a few minutes.
I think the bone pain is the worst part. I forgot that from the dental surgeries I've had, that deep pain in the bone that has been drilled can really hurt. Craig wanted to sleep in the room instead of either of us going to the guest room. I was hoping that it wouldn't be so painful and that I could save some meds so I don't run out on days 3-4. He gave me 80 pills, so if I take more than 16 per day I'll be out before the worst of the pain is over.
Although I understand the need to be careful about dispensing strong drugs, I just don't understand why they insist on adding to a patient's stress by making them worry about running out of pain meds, when they have a fully legitimate need to get them. Its not like pain stops after day 5 - and in any case, you shouldn't stop anything that strong cold turkey... would it have killed him to give you 20 extra pills, just to have a buffer? geez!
I was pretty shocked he gave me 80. Honestly, that is generous compared to most doctors. If it still hurts after that I'll call him.
