Dr. K Says [Oct. 28th, 2008|06:06 pm]
[Current Mood |hopefulhopeful]

We both agree that Physical Therapy is a fail, so I am to move the exercises over to the gym and continue to do them to keep up muscle strength. I also am ramping off of Cymbalta and it will be out of my system within a month.

I am being referred to the pain specialist to do two things.

1. Evaluate my overall pain management and make recommendations/next steps.

2. Last try for something "curative" which is to try a temporary nerve block. If it works I may be a candidate for a permanent nerve block. If it does not work, the diagnosis of Neuropathy of unknown origin remains. There is real hope that it will work though.

Please pray that the nerve block works. If not, the only thing left is more Opioid painkillers. I am voting nerve block.

I know I've told you this before but my mother has had great success with nerve blocks. I hope this works for you, too!

That is encouraging! Dr. K didn't seem TOO hopeful, but I think we were both just willing to try it.

I am very excited to try it. I have nothing to lose by finding out if it is a possible solution. If I DO end up needing more narcotics to control the pain, at LEAST I will know I tried every other option first, which will make the side effects easier for me to bear mentally.
