2. milk (whole) works for me (warm or cold)
3. pepto bismol
I have to eat something before I take meds. Usually a banana, toast, or cereal. I didn't this morning , and nearly vomitted. I went and had a few handfuls of cherios and felt much better.
I know it's hard, you are such a strong woman!
One downside to milk is that it is NASTY to throw up, so if it isn't successful in it's calming effect, it's worse than some other choices.
Maybe diet ginger ale. I can't do too much sugar without getting ill.
Mint tea is a classic one to settle the tummy. Even sucking on a peppermint candy can help.
I would also suggest some vegetable/chicken broth. Just sip it very very slowly.
Also I would suggest jello. Even though it doesn't have much in the way of calories it is a good place to start and it will keep you hydrated, which is really important right now.
Oh and saltines. How could I forget saltines. Just nibble slowly at a few.
I'm so sad that I only have "lemonmint" and not REAL mint in my garden. I should ask the neighbors if they have any real mint. I LOVE making fresh mint tea. Maybe Craig will get me some from the store. It's a Moroccan favorite to make it with the fresh leaves from what I hear.
Junior mints. I realize this isn't a "healthy" food choice given that it's candy but the chocolate calms your nerves and the mint calms your tummy. Trust me. Coming from a girl with stomach issues since puberty these were my friend in high school and ginger ale. Other friends on the non-offensive list for me include apple sauce, instant mashed potatoes, bananas, dry cereal (almost any variety of cherrios), scrambled eggs and cream of wheat with berries.
I have some granola that might be good and cream of wheat. Yogurt goes well usually and I have some of the high protien greek kind.
P.S. I was happy to hear your voice yesterday even if it was only for a little while. *HUG* I love you!
*hugs* I love you too! Look out for an arrival on Tues-Thurs next week.
Ugh, I am so sorry!! The good stuff sounds good but the bad stuff sounds awful. I wish there was more than I could do for you.
I hope it gets better. In good news, the nerve pain feels at least one tiny bit better, but throwing up hurt the healing of my stomach muscles SO bad, that's why I couldn't sleep. I hate my plastics doc for not caring for me until I'm fully healed.
I didn't like Waking Ned Devine either. :) Glad you got cuddle time!
diet ginger ale, diet lightly flavored seltzer -- at room temp. also, crystallized ginger (but maybe that's what you mean when you say you are eating ginger? I wasn't sure if you meant crystallized or fresh). greek yogurt, but it has that milk issue (sometimes it can make it worse). mint -- either lukewarm mint tea (I like moroccan mint) or even a tiny mint hard candy. Plain crackers, plain toast. Also broth-based soups (not creamy). Watered down juice (cranberry, apple) -- I usually do 50/50 water:juice, that way it's not too sugary but still helps. Bananas IF the smell doesn't trigger you.
