It's lovely... terrific cut!!! But yes, it needs some attitude.
I was thinking adding some sparkle and seeing what I think. Also, I'm not sure the hose are the right leg attire for this one either.
you should have the sleeves shortened a bit.
Well, it is only going to fit me for less than a month, then I have to return it to Tiffany, so I'm not planning to alter it.
I would put on a matching purple shell underneath, and undo some of the buttons. The purple shell will show off the pearls and highlight your lovely face. A flashy broach might also look good (in addition or by itself).
Great suggestions! I'm going to try some different options with this suit. I can't do too much to it as I'm only borrowing it and it won't fit in a month, but I think it needs more zing.
It fits great but it's WAY subdued. Can you layer a colorful shell underneath? Some vibrant color, red or green or bright blue? Even a scarf would perk it up a bit. I think the nude hose are fine though.
I think a pin might not be enough drama. And pumps, that would be like the uber professional thing. Just basic black pumps. Or even sling backs? My favorite black work shoes are sling backs.
I tried it with pumps, but I have to travel, so I can't risk making my pain that bad. I could carry them in the bag with me though so Ic an put them on when I get there. I agree that this look is a bit bland.
Aww thanks! But would you want to hire me in this outfit?

i think the arms could use some tailoring to make it look a bit more fitted.
and it needs some accessories ;)
Yeah, but it is borrowed and won't fit for longer than a month, so tailoring isn't an option. Accessories definitely are though!
I like the skirt... its a great length for you. I also agree, though, that you need a shell or cami (COLORFUL, and I think Purple is the best bet) and to undo some of the buttons to soften the look a little. With the buttons done all the way up my first thought was "nazi school marm" (sorry!! that's just what came up!) It's a great suit, though, and with some accessorizing (which I KNOW you're up to!) it will be fantabulous.
Also, when I was thin and beautiful, worked in a power law firm, and wore suits into DC all the time I would wear a pair of (CLEAN!!) sneakers, and then switch to my killer pumps/cute shoes once I got into my office. Just a thought. :)
I have my cute meowy owies I could wear until I got to graduation, then switch.
I do feel a bit nazi school marm in this. I need to make it "more me".
Ha, I LOVE the last shot!
Thanks! That's my action shot of "look at my professional enthusiasm", otherwise known as the "Buddy Christ" pose.

I had to say something and I am a het guy.
It's a great base suit. It does need to be tailored to look right. A jacket clip will bring your waist back. The sleeves could also be tacked without wrecking the jacket. If the shoulder pad are removable then you want to remove them. You would be surprised in those two differences will make.
Accessories are going to be tough with that style. It is a very square cut and most brooches will look out of place. If you want to look sharp focus on the exposed skin. A sparkling necklace and a good watch provide enough flash with out distracting. The shoes go with a flat a soft suede purple or grey flat will finish off your attire.
If you want to swim with the sharks then you need to look the part. Pearls will belay innocence while diamonds or other gemstone will convey your sophistication. Black shoes are a safe choice however they will not get you noticed unless they are unusual and usually in the wrong regards. You don't have to spend a ton of money, it is just about tweaking what you have.

Re: I had to say something and I am a het guy.
That was kinda harsh although your points are all valid. Don't know why when I post outfits people think it's cool to pick them apart with so little mercy. How many people would do that in person? I do see the intent is totally constructive, but on first read, I was saying, "Whoa!"
I can't wear something super tight on the waist with buttons or it will gap. I have a really extreme hip to waist ratio compared to most women, so that's why I usually don't have matched skirts and shirts. As far as the pearls go, they are a gift from Craig, and I don't have very much real jewelry. Well, basically none except the pearls, so the choices are costume jewelry or the pearls which are real.
Anyhow, this outfit is for graduation of my training, not an important interview or superior court, so the sharks should be safe from me. ;)
I think the jacket is too big and that is a problem that is unlikely to resolve in 2 weeks. I have another jacket that might work better with this suit skirt, so I'll try that on and post a photo. I'm working under some constraints for the next month, first being cost, second being pain (I need something that doesn't make it worse), third being time, forth being travel (can't wrinkle too much). Basically, if it requires that much massaging just to be acceptable for graduation, forget it! I'll just do something else.
It is very nice, but I still like the dress more.
Thanks! I don't think I've found the right outfit just yet, but it was nice of Tiffany to give me another option for free.
I'm going to be in your area from June 4th-6th. Let me know if there is any chance of those dates working for you guys. I know it's a really busy time with the possible upcoming move.
It needs boobs! And dang girl you got some hot legs!
