Glitter [Apr. 27th, 2008|09:00 pm]

Well, just so you know, there is NO lipgloss that will ever make your lips glitter this much.

Photobucket

If you want them this glittery, you put on lipstick, then get Make Up Forever glitter, stick it on top of the lipstick, then gloss over the top with a thick gloss. Trust me. I KNOW lipgloss, and they don't make any where the glitter is this plentiful. When they advertise in Sephora catalogs and show you makeup catalogs or you go see anyone performing with VERY glittery lips, it is usually photography tricks like this that make it happen.

Very pretty!

I don't usually do the glittery lips, but I love the way it looks on you! I do like to have really glossy lips, though. Maybe I should give glitter another shot. I do have a couple sparkly lip glosses. Hmm.

Speaking of makeup, I've been meaning to ask you for some suggestions. Since you made a makeup related post, I'll do it here. I need a new mascara to love. I like long lashes. I like a little volume. What I do NOT like is when I get the dark smudgies under my eyes at the end of the day... or earlier. You know the ones that make you look like a zombie or insomniac or something. I have kind of oily skin, maybe I have oily lashes, too? I've tried so many mascaras, and I can't find one that doesn't do this. If you have a suggestion to try, I can't tell you how grateful I'd be if it works.

I've tried eye primers. I'm careful when I put on facial moisturizer to not get it on my lashes. I don't know what else to try.

I'd also like one that washes off easily. I hate the undereye smudgies after cleansing, too.

My favorite mascara is Lancome Definicils. I've tried every kind. If I must be cheap I am ok with covergirl Lash Exact, but it doesn't do as much for the lashes and Lancome lengthwise.

I don't mind splurging when it's worth it.

I'll try it out! Thanks for the suggestion! I think I've heard either you or someone else mention it before.

Lash Exact let me down. :(

Well, there isn't much humidity here, so maybe that's why my mascara doesn't usually end up down there. You might need a different kind in your climate.

That's possible.

I'm highly intimidated by makeup counter women. Maybe I need to swallow my fear and ask for help!

Sephora. It's the answer to SO many questions. :)

I do love Sephora.

We were at one of the malls here and I saw one and gasped. You see, there's no Sephora in Huntsville.

Scott asked me, "What is it?"

"Mecca," was my reply. ;)

I'll look next time I'm at the mall.

Have you ever seen Hedwig and the Angry Inch? I LUST over her lips everytime I see them! It would be perfect for clubs...but I imagine you take a drink or two and it goes away? Does your glitter stay for very long?

Here's Hedwig:

Ok, in the Hedwig picture that is glitter, lipliner, and most likely shelac (sp?) by benefit.

No, it won't stay, but I think if you put the Shelac product on top it might. I'll try that next time I go to Sephora.

I think it would stay better if I didn't put the gloss on top, but I like the gloss. The glitter feels kinda ickyh if you don't put the gloss on top. The make up forever glitter at least fades nicely, so I wear it to work sometimes in pink.

I have a Mac Lipglass that's pretty darn glittery, but nothing compared to that pic!

I have many Mac Lipglasses and they all could use more glitter. The most glittery actual lipgloss in my collection (now over 100 glosses) is the Dior Kiss in Mango Sorbet, but I hear an ugly rumor they are changing the formula, so I bought an extra one just in case.

I have this one I got at Dollar Tree that has like actual chunks of glitter in it. Pretty much the same glitter we use to make kids crafts. It's ew. Shiny, but ew.

I'm unwilling to put up with bad tasting lip gloss. Thus I mix and match as needed. :)

I love the way glitter looks but cannot tollerate the texture on my lips. Do you use a lipliner first?

Sometimes. The Make up forever glitter is expensive, but the texture is undetectable as it's a very fine grain glitter.
