Shopping with Anthropologie Sticker Shock [Mar. 26th, 2008|11:41 am]
Lanette
[Current Mood |bouncybouncy]

Do I buy this dress because it would be perfect on me despite hating the price? I mean, it IS on sale, and it is actually decent fabric and work appropriate. Is the color "citrine" a bad joke and will it arrive in an ungodly orange, or does it really come in just the color shown? New Question: Do I get size M or size L? The sizes run small there.

How do we feel about This little number?

In other news, I'd like to buy this as my spring coat, but alas, it is terry cloth. I desire a non-boring, wide skirted, spring trench ideally in aqua with cream or brown piping. Possibly with polka dots. I dunno. Something not black. Did a mention with a waist and then a full skirt? Ok, good. Go Go Gadget Internets. Find fabulous coat?

I work around your limitations. See new thumbnails (go go Scene7 Adobe Technology).

I'm completely in love with the first one. The trim just seals the deal for me. I can't help it...I say buy it! (I'm going to be in soooo much trouble when I'm small enough to shop in even plus-sized stores!)

yup yup

it is hard to 'rethink' what you would normally buy to cover things :) Emma and I have to do that with her now that she is a tiny size 0/1 all the fashion rules we used to apply to her are out the window!!

Re: yup yup

I just loved the neckline on that second dress. I didn't even consider the sleeves.

The first one is gorgeous.
Tricky: citrine is typically orange, but there is such a thing as blue citrine.

Ooh. Hm. What are your bust, waist? Bra?
I'm like 35-36, 28 waist and I don't know what hip. I would choose M.

That's not a bad price for a dress you'll wear often and feel wonderful in. If you were only going to wear it a few times, then I would say fuhgedabbouddit. But, you'll add it to your lovely closet collection and wear it often, I'm sure. Well worth the investment. :)

I agree. Trying to decide on that one if I go size M or L.

I'm not liking those long arms on dress #2 for you.

Dress #1 says Lanette all over, as long as you can gracefully pull off linen. Personally, I won't touch any clothing with linen in it, because within 10 minutes of putting it on I'll look like I slept in my clothes. Linen and me do not get along.

I don't think either dress is worth $70. Just because it's on sale doesn't mean it's a good price. But you've got the money. *shrugs*

I think they are both very cute dresses, but the second one seems more polished looking. The first is kinda casual to me because of the lacey designs and the flower on the bust.

I like the Target one the best. The second one is only in plus size and doesn't go in enough at the waist. The top coat is cool, but I don't look good in red (thus my desire for a spring pastel of some sort). The 3/4 sleeve puts me off of the third one. This coat mission may take awhile to complete. I'm too picky!

for spring jackets, check Boden! boden usa -- they're a british company with some really cute stuff. I wish my chest were not so big so that I could wear some of their jackets and stuff! (also be sure to check their Sale section).

BTW, I think the top dress is gorgeous and would look great on you! :)

I like the colors, but the don't use enough fabric to suit me. I want a flowy skirt from the waist down.
