Work Pants [Jan. 21st, 2008|12:50 pm]
Lanette
It may seem a minor thing to you, but today I'm wearing what I would usually term as "slaaaacks". An ugly word for something I consider ugly on my body. At my last WU training session I went off about how I didn't look good in pants because they don't fit someone with larger hips for their waist well, and blabberdey blah blah I wouldn't be showing up in THOSE and would be in a skirt or dress at all times.

Well, as part of expanding our comfort zone and trying new things, wearing pants was one of my goals. Today, I am in fact, wearing pants. And they don't look bad. It is, however, quite annoying to me that I have to go up 2 pants sizes from what I wear in jeans to get some slacks that fit.

Here they are

What? Let you see it from the back?

The Side? Yeah, we're sporting it marsupial style now.

How do I feel? Nervous? Ummm, actually, ok.

I think you look very classy! Wow!

I know what you mean though. If I want something to flow instead of cling to the marsupial pouch I have to go up a couple of sizes too.

Thanks! Yes, I had to swallow my size pride and just get the pants that looked better.

My tummy looked really bad in them until I went up 2 sizes. Gotta tell you, it hurt going up in sizes because I'm so phobic, but it turned out ok.

I can't see the marsupial look at all. I think they look great, especially with the asymetrical shirt.

I like them on you! There are different kinds of pants out there for everyone. I find that certain heavier fabrics work better for me than others. The twill not so much but fabrics which have some drape to them are great. I got a wonderful pair of pants from Chicos, and they look so nice on me! NOT cheap though, but I had a gift reciept so it worked.

What do you think, can I wear a knee length leather skirt to work?

I know you didn't ask me, but I have to comment.

If it's real leather, knee length and not skin tight, YES!

They look awesome!

I know how you feel about pants... I feel the same way. I don't think I look good in 'em, but after seeing you in them, I may venture to try again.

Re: They look awesome!

Kohl's had a huge selection. I didn't like having to go up sizes to get any to look decent, but oh well. It's just a number.

I think you look wonderful (and I absolutely love the top!) I think the shape of it creates a very flattering look, not 'marsupial' at all. Yay you!

I generally wear slaaaaaaaacks to work because I end up crawling around with cable or something half the time and skirts just don't work out very well for that. (Well, once in my much thinner days I was wearing a shortish skirt, which was probably completely inappropriate for work. I had to walk into a room full of construction guys and hook up a PC under the desk they were working on. One of them actually said to the other "Get your drill out of my back!" I was mortified. This was in my much less confident days! I quit wearing short skirts to work about the same time... LOL!)

That construction story is hilarious! I think construction workers are hot.

Interesting that you have to go up on slacks from jeans. I go DOWN a size from jeans to slacks.

I think it's because while my skin is super compressable (i.e. loose), it looks terrible in slacks because they don't compress. They have to be smooth over the belly.

That's a very pretty outfit! It's tricky, but I was able to find quite a few comfy slacks when I still had a saggy tummy :>)

At Kohl's, I found that the brand "Requirements" was very flattering (and cheap when on sale!)

Love the shirt! And I think the pants look great! I've just been wearing yoga-pants for fear of trying other styles.

I'm a little behind in my LJing, but those pants look cute on you! I have to wear slacks for work EVERY flippin' day because we are required to wear some form of hosery, and i can't find nylons/tights that aren't waaaay too big in the crotch area but not tall enough for my legs. Blech.. anyways... :)

You look great, as always :)

Thanks! It's hard to find tights that fit properly. I still have trouble with it, but tend to like the tights at Target ok.
