Midnight the Kitty [Oct. 6th, 2007|03:03 pm]

[Current Mood |worriedworried]

The test results were mixed. His toxin level is back to normal! (yay!) His creatinine numbers were better, but still not normal. Normal upper range is 2.4 and his were at 3.2, so he is getting closer. He has to go back in 2 weeks if he continues to do well, and we will get him retested. We are hopeful, but wish both numbers would be back to normal by now. While he is getting better, the longer it takes to get back to normal, the more likely it is that he has kidney damage (from my understanding). Kidney failure is serious and we are very much hoping it isn't chronic because that means bad things for his lifespan both in terms of length and quality.

*prays for midnight*

you should definitely keep him on the prescription low magnesium food for the rest of his life, even if all his numbers do return to normal. this will help in aiding against further kidney issues...

my kitty juju had such severe kidney damage in 1999 it almost killed him. here it is 2007, he is 12 years old, and he is just fine! :)

Thanks. He has to get retested in a few weeks, and then we will know more. We are feeding him the wet food as advised by our vet.

Isn't he adorable? I love him. :) We have bonded more since I've been spending time with him and feeding him the wet food.
