Please never play again:
1. The "blanket" song by Fergie
2. "Whine Up"
3. "Buy U A Drank"
4. "Beautiful Girls" (it's not that it's a terrible song, but more that it gets stuck in my head, and I don't like it enough to allow it space in my noggin)
5. "Hey There Delilah"
I'll never give up these albums:
1. "Nighthawks at the Diner" - Tom Waits
2. "Exile in Guyville" - Liz Phair
3. "Standing on a Beach" - The Cure
4. "Live At Folsom Prison" - Johnny Cash
5. "Siamese Dream" - Smashing Pumpkins
That blanket song is really terrible. I don't have that Liz Phair song. I'll have to check it out!
+1 on InfoSoc. I didn't know anyone else still remembered them :)
...much less was aware of Hack.
I have very album. They were one of the first bands I ever really got into.
very=every. I've even heard "don't be afraid" which is the Kurt Harland solo album. I wasn't as into it (I know, other fans would bash me for saying that). They have come out with a "new" album, but Kurt Harland isn't in the band as he makes video game music now, so to me, it just isn't the same.
I adore Liz Phair. She writes oh so well and speaks to me deeply. Also the Duran Duran rocks. I'm with you on some of these new songs. I've liked some Beyonce, but definitely not the ones you've mentioned.
I've mostly stopped listening to the radio. That's what my iPod is for :)
Polyester Bride - Liz Phair. One of my all time faves.
I have Polyester Bride as one of my favorites in my iTunes. Totally amusing song with great lyrics.
Beyonce does have talent, but some of her songs are really lame.
See for me Polyester Bride was all about settling for something less than what you're worth. Settling for a life you don't like because it's easy or for a man who is emotionally abusive because you think he's the only one who will ever love you.
She made me want to not settle for less than I'm worth. I wanted the alligator cowboy boots that just went on sale. A rare and wonderous find :)
So my parents are visiting this weekend and I was telling my mom about you and how I have a friend on the west coast and how wonderful and inspiring you are. It's amazing how much I feel like I know you, but we've never met. Strange this cyber world we live in. I just wanted to share that and let you know how much you've effected my life in a positive way Lanette.
Awww! Thank you. You inspire me too. I love to read about your running.
My favorite part of that song is the "you've got time". To me it is about appreciating what you DO have, the people who do care for you and see what is good about you rather than lamenting about those who don't or settling for a boring life. There are way worse things in life than being single. Even if you feel alone, those people (such as the bartender friend) are there listening to you WHINE because they care. So even then, you aren't really alone.
We're going to see VNV Nation on Monday (tuesday is going to be exhausting). I also would be thrilled to never hear another Beyonce song in my life... or the "suicidal" song as well. It's horrible.
Oh! have a wonderful time at the VNV Nation show.
I don't go out to shows very often anymore, partly because of my pain situation. It sucks to admit that, but when I have to stand on concrete for hours it makes my pain so bad that often times I just wish I hadn't gone. I guess that makes me old.
She certainly is pretty and a good dancer. Visually, I can see why people are interested. As far as just listening to most of the SONGS though? The songs themselves don't do much for me even though I love her voice. I hope she gets some better writers on her next album.
If I have to hear that bitch cry about her "Blankie" one more time... (Fergie) I am also not interested in her lovely lady lumps!
Oldies but goodies:
Queen - Greatest Hits
Alanis - Jagged Little Pill (ah, good times...)
Most of the 80's big hair bands
Some of the "Lilith Fair" ladies' music
Chicago - Greatest Hits
And a whole lot of other random stuff that doesn't seem possible mixed in together! :)
I agree. Fergie as a serious offender when it comes to the songs.
Chicago, huh? I'll have to check that out sometime, see if it brings back any memories.
