[Current Mood |curiouscurious]

How much dry food per day should an adult cat be eating if fed twice a day?

Mine get about 2/3 cup a day (1/3 c in the morning, 1/3 at night) per cat, but they don't always finish that.

Also, how much they should eat depends entirely on what they're eating. Mine eat a combination of Royal Canin Maine Coon 31 (because of their coats and size), Oral Sensitive 30 (for tooth care and hairball reduction), and Indoor 27 (because they're lazy bastards).

I've also fed them a combination of Prescription Diet WD (for weight control) and TD (for tartar control).

I had a friend remark to me once that even the Iams for indoor cats was so full of fat that it's easy for cats to gain weight on.

that really depends on the food and the cat's build. food with more filler means that the cats need more of it to get the appropriate amount of nutrition.

claw's on some indoor cat food that is decent quality - she gets 1/4-1/3C per day and she sticks around 9 pounds... but other foods she's been on have required less or more.

the bag of the dry food should give you guidelines based upon the cat's current/target weight.

good luck! :)
