Fantasy Book Recommendations [May. 22nd, 2009|11:02 am]

I've been loving many of the books/authors you suggested, however, Half Price books is having a sale and Craig and I are going tonight!

Reminder: I like fantasy books most, but a good Vampire book wouldn't be rejected.

So far random_girl gets the prize of recommending the most books I like by far, so I'm hoping she has more suggestions. :)

The Outlander series was a good read. I bit romance novel, but enjoyable:

I double, triple, Quadruple re-recommend the Outlander series. :) That's one set I threw out there the first time you asked for rec's.

I got the first book on CD and tried listening to it 5 times, but never got past the bloody footprint part. I may need to try it in text as I'm a fast reader so I might get in far enough that it grabs my attention.

:)

glad to hear this.

It's by far one of the most wonderful series I've ever read (but I think I may have expressed this several times already)

I just read Belladonna by Anne Bishop and am starting Sebastian (I couldn't get a hold of Sebastian first - it's the first in the series...)

REALLY enjoyed Belladonna, and I'm already enjoying Sebastian. Excellent. :)

Anne Bishop is my favorite author and sadly I've read everything she's ever written, so until she writes more, I can't buy anymore of her books. I adore her!

She just put out a new one you know.. Let me go see what it's called.. "The Shadow Queen". It was a fun read! More Daemon and Janelle but they weren't the main characters.

Also www.goodreads.com is awesome. I've put up a good portion of my book collection on there. lately it's my favorite way to find new stuff to read. You can friend me on there I think I'm ebullientjenn or jciferni@hotmail.com

Did I recommend "Black Company" for you before?

What about "Fool on the Hill"

"Black Company" is a series. They just re-published them as two large anthologies. Or "omnibus" editions, they call them (and I have no idea why they do).

I can't remember, but have I ever recommended Sharon Shinn? I'd start with Archangel. They're fantasy but not traditional, kind of biblical in a way but not like preachy, more just ancient. So not knights and dragons, but more Nomads in the desert.

Highly enjoyable and there are sequels!

In closing -
Sharon Shinn - Archangel.

My suggestions, the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Vampires, but not really vampires, more Greek god cursed peoples...very good books. Even Chuck enjoys them.

Also, JR Ward writes a similar series that we both enjoy.
