[Current Mood |sicksick]

I'm home from work because I have no voice. Since no one is here but the cats you'd think I could be silent all day easily, but no. Usually I talk so much that even the cats get an earful.

So, staying down. Not coughing. Moisturizing my nose and staying close to the Nice N Soft + Lotion box of tissues and enjoying my nice Teavana teas is what my agenda today is made of.

If I feel up to it after my nap I'm going to edit some photos!

If you like Jello, using some of the powder to make a tea often helps a hoarse voice. Gelatin can be very soothing to the throat.

I prefer to use slippery elm, licorice root or marshmallow root because I don't eat gelatin.

Feel better! Baby that poor nose. Text the kitties!

I will have to teach the cats sign language. ;) Wouldn't that be funny. Poor Midnight is really dumb, but I bet Ashley could learn a few signs. Thanks for the suggestions.

LOL@Midnight.

Dumb cats are so dang endearing, aren't they? Can't help but love those stupid little heads with those rotten little brains in them!

I am reasonably sure Ashley could learn mother, milk, eat and thank you. They're all pretty easy signs, and similar to things kitties do anyway.

I taught Emma to high five. She hardly ever does any more (she's too cool), but she knows how.

He has the cutest little personality. Last night he "forgot" where we were, so just started howling. We called him and he came up, stared at us, and was ok. He then wandered off, forgot again, and started howling. *sigh* Our poor retarded baby.

Hahaha. I love Midnight and I haven't even met him!

He should meet Peaches. She isn't retarded, she's just... Well. She's been shot twice (BB gun, before we took her in), lived the gangsta life before we took her in, and has like, feral kitty PTSD or something. She howls for us, too. But when she finds us, she stares in horror like we're going to kill her. Then she goes and hides again. She's a mess.

But she's our mess.

I love our crazy brain damaged cat, even if it means I can't have my favorite flowers. He ATE my stargazer lily petal that fell to the floor, so that's how he got acute kidney failure and why he now needs expensive prescription kidney cat food for the rest of his life. He also licks the electrical outlets so thankfully our house is childproofed for the most part. If I didn't know of his intellectual challenges I'd think he was trying to kill himself!

Oh my goodness! I think I remember you writing about him doing that...

Are Stargazer lilies your favorite? They're mine too! They smell so amazing and are just gorgeous! But we don't bring them home for the same reason. I don't own any plants that aren't non-toxic because one or the other of the cats is bound to try and nibble it. And on the off chance that the bunny got to it... So yeah. I should just grow various lettuces or something. ;)

Outlets! Goodness. What a kitty!

We are very careful to never let him get outside. Yes, the stargazers are my very favorite flower, although I do like dahlias and roses too. I'm now very very careful. I thought since we had it back on the counter where he doesn't go we'd be safe, but we think one petal fell to the floor and that's what made him so sick. It's just not worth the risk although I do miss my flowers. Ashley never ever came near them, so before Midnight was around I had my favorite flowers often and I miss the smell for sure. I'll just have to get some and take them to work so I can get my flower fix and keep my furry black baby as well.

Sounds like a good idea! Flowers at work are always so nice! And stargazer lilies smell so good, your whole office would smell so wonderful!

Other lilies can grow up there, can you plant some in your garden? So you can at least enjoy them outside? I don't know if stargazers can, though. Tiger lilies are really pretty. :)

We have some tiger lilies in our front yard! That's a good idea to plant some stargazers in the yard. They don't grow as big as the ones in the store though? I wonder how they get the flowers so big. Do I need fertilizer?

Oh honey, I don't know for sure... most of my plant experience is patio gardening or indoors... they probably have some genetically modified strain. Or it could just be that the ones in the store are grown under ideal conditions. Everything grows better under ideal conditions, after all. We all thrive when everything is perfect. ;)

You could try fertilizer, it could help. Remember though, that flowers planted from bulbs often don't bloom the first year they're planted.

I will have to try to find some room to plant them in the back yard. I think you are right that the "ideal" conditions are skewing my expectations.

I may need a cat muzzle for Midnight. ;) Other than that, I'm good. I hope I am better tomorrow. I'm curled up with a book and forcing myself to not talk.

I am curled up on the couch with a ice water and a book and this laptop. I am drugged to the gills on sudefed which is helping! I can only hope that tomorrow will be better and the dreaded sniffles will move along. ;)

I am so impatient that viruses make me the most mad because I can't just go to the doctor and use antibiotics to get better. I have to actually REST. Who wants to do that? Not me.
