Phost-More or Less like Skelator Than B4? [Nov. 19th, 2008|12:27 pm]

[Current Mood |amusedamused]

While I'm being abrasive, I'd like to add that you males are BORING to buy for. Some of us (by us I mean your girlfriends/wives/hapless lackie relative who got your name in a drawing) are tired of your stupid video games, lame $400 gadgets that are worthless in 2 years, glorified porno comics, and toys that look like they are for a teenager. Ask for some tools or a book, or some music or something we can at least enjoy with you like a movie or book on CD or lord help me something to DO together? Gawd. How about something with sentimental value? Oh what? Can't think of any? You put us in such a foul mood that we're likely to burn the Christmas Cookies. I'm already angry about Christmas and it isn't even close??? I got mad and started wanting to drink as soon as last night. It isn't even the "season of joy" yet! Whatever. If I clicked below what you wanted in a drunken stupor, send it back and alert me when it's 2009.

While you're at it, if you're dating a woman I know and buy her a Trackball Mouse, one CD WHILE you are with her, or a pair of earrings nothing like anything else she owns this holiday season, may the Yeti curl up and leave hair all over your computer chair and a foul odor. You've been warned.

That's it! I'd like a refund on the Vag? It comes with too much drama, too much work, and not nearly enough just showing up and eating on the holidays. I protest. Treat me like a man until January comes. (well-minus the killing spiders part).

Casper, is that you? Who stole my eyeliner. Ok, I have eyeliner on, just not in the amounts I like to see.

I'm not sure what makes it worse--the fact I haven't had my hair done since July, that I'm in AGONY today from being prodded about the spine by the pain doctor and forced into pretzel like agony, or that I'm just BLEH. My attitude of angst is making some comedy for me to today so far at least.

My husband isn't one for video games or porny comic books. But he is difficult to buy for.

You are lucky indeed, but he is still a big nerd (I know, I read his blog). :) I hope that you find present buying for your boys less trying than mine has been so far.

I think I'm going to wait until I'm a bit further post painful dental work and toe surgery, or at least have a larger stash of pain meds in me before I attempt project holiday joy again.

I have managed to find a few different things. Thinkgeek.com is a useful place to find geeky toys.
Senor Onion is too easy to buy for. Little boys are so easy to buy for which I like.

lol I was just thinking about what to get my husband for Christmas and you're pretty much right on the money. Although he wants/goes through a lot of books, so I'm trying to encourage him to use the library more. I'm really leaning toward getting him a Kindle because it's half gadget/half book!

I enjoy books, but the library is a much better plan. Storage is expensive.

Um, I get tired of being the RECIPIENT of video games! Just because my man WANTS me to play doesn't mean he should buy me a game that he though I may like. Ugh. Worst birthday gift, ever.

That's like the biggest "I didn't give this any thought" cue ever. He didn't even wander into a STORE you might like.

John is both easy and the hardest person to buy for. He's a total geek. So that throws out any vehicle or sports related gift.

However, a couple years ago I bought him a bunch of transistors, LED's, servo motors, and other assorted gadgetry crap, and he was thrilled.
Easy to buy, cheap for a lot of it, but hard in the sense that I had to come up with it in the first place since he's not a traditional guy!

This year...hrmm...I'm thinking more wood working tools...but we'll see. Again, the hard part. ;)

Never asked for a video game or a trendy gadget though, so I suppose I'm pretty lucky in that regard!

Craig is hard to buy for because he likes either stuff I can't afford or stuff I don't know about because it's old as the hills for his projects.

Hello,

I came across your journal from the WLS community. Do you mind if I add you?

And just so I don't seem completely random...my husband is one of the worst people to buy for. LOL

Ah the time honored tradition of buying others gifts that you like. What right do they have to be disappointed? They're getting it for free after all!

You may be getting lipgloss.

Ask for more BJ's and some token books. Humor me, ok?

Um, I don't have a game system and have been reading mostly non fiction the last couple of years so I must be off your gift list. I don't have toys and even a couple of tools made it on my list.

Seriously, my wife has problems shopping for me despite a list. She gets a little competive when it comes to gift giving. It could be that she is a little intimidated by my getting 'themie' with Christmas which usually includes some sort of jewlry.

Thank you. I am hoping that my pale skin will help replace the lightbulbs that are burning out in my house. :) That's one way to save on electricity.

i havent brushed my hair in 3 days, its been in a bun non-stop. sigh.

here are some 'boys are stupid' christmas shopping ideas:

so i have an addiction to google reader and 99% of the blogs i subscribe to are design or art blogs. i find all kinds of awesome presents my BF would never think to ask for on there. one of the things i got him for his last birthday was this:

http://www.endemicworld.com/NZ_Gifts/DOD081/'Can_of_Inspiration'_by_Department_of_Doing.html

here are some of the things on his christmas list so far this year:
https://hbssl100.securednshost.com/~sanddune/sdbstore/ (the honey one obviously)
http://aplusrstore.com/product_detail.php?show=product&pid=282&mid=20 (he's a coffee addict)
http://www.boystomengifts.com/wallet-survival-tool.html (stocking stuffer)
http://curiosityshoppeonline.com/lunchbox.html (as it is awesome)
http://www.oopstuff.com/view/216/1638/ (stocking)
http://www.topatoco.com/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=TO&Product_Code=CG-TROPHY&Category_Code=ALLACCESSORIES (because i laughed and laughed!)

and there you go. that's how i kill time at work :)

Totally snagging this list of links!

I have my list made - ideas for every female, not a single one for any of the guys on my list. I asked Cabana-Boy what he wanted and he told me "cufflinks that shoot lasers." Yup.

btw starry, I think you look purty!

Well, I heard it was a gift from one person to another person with some sort of meaning. But now it's a handoff of items without thought. We go to the list, click, put in money, boom. Stuff arrives. I don't know what it is about anymore.

And I'm not sure my gifts of any sort are appreciated. I feel like quitting the game sometimes.

Boy oh boy

Boys are either too hard to shop for or too easy, huh? The wishlists are created to make gift giving easier, but you don't have to use them.
