Dreams and Mundane. [Sep. 18th, 2008|11:44 am]

Instead of "Oh God, Why Does My Body Feel This Way?", you get the other brain contents dumped here in case you want to read it. Pain level is up to 8. Please no cry at work today.

Mundane
The freezer dispenser door on our fridge, which was bought in 2006 from Sears will not stay closed. We have shoved a rag covered in a plastic bag up there, but our freezer is still building up ice and unable to self-defrost. It is also wasting energy. I have looked online for ways to fix it, identified that we have a Kenmore side by side Coldpoint and got the serial number. It is out of warrantee.

After looking to see if I could fix it myself (and Craig looking too with a flashlight and mirror), the answer is NO, we do not have the expertise to fix it nor the parts/knowledge needed. I called Sears. We can either pay $256 + tax for a 1 year service agreement or a $109 minimum plus $115 minimum if they need parts + labor for a one time trip. We have until Sept 24th to decide. Should I call another company? Is this normal?

Food Dream?
I had a dream last night that I was lost in California and took a taxi to go to dinner with braxana who I've only met one time in person. Anyhow, in my dream he took me to sushi and a bunch of his friends kept showing up. We all got into a very lively conversation and the waitress kept bringing out more things. I wanted Tobiko, but before I could get it, other people kept wolfing it down. Gradually everyone else left, but I wanted to try desserts. They had tons of adorable desserts with anime eyes on them and cute animals. They were sized so small I could eat many different ones. When we finally left I went to the cashier first and the bill was over $300! I was going to pay it, but couldn't afford it. I asked Masumi what the deal was and he said, "Oh, I always pay for all of these people. Is that a problem? Thanks for paying." I said, "Ummm, well, I'll pay for mine, but I can't afford the bill for everyone." It was all akward. That was the whole dream. I felt like a chump because I couldn't pay the bill.

So, does it make me racist that in my dream he took me to a good sushi place just because he has Japanese ancestry? Or does it just mean I am hungry and realize that he might also like small desserts with anime faces since he likes anime? All in all, tobiko and small desserts would be cool right now.

Isn't there a bar inside the icemaker that you can switch to turn it off?

There is, but the problem is the dispenser door is unable to seal, so turning off the ice maker does no good. Cold air still escapes and ice still builds up.

We want to get it fixed because it doesn't seem to seal right. We considered caulking it shut, but it's not that old a fridge and that is a value issue when we go to sell the house.

Sushi and anything vaguely kawaii would not be out of character for Mas. ;)

Well good! Speaking of which, have you been to Chiso in Fremont? It has very good sushi, for less than $300. :)

Chiso is quite quite quite good for not insane prices, their sister restaurant Kappo is also quite good.

Now, don't I recall you not being too fond of sushi once upon a time, miss? ;)

I am a sushi wimp, but I LOVE california rolls and oishi rolls, so mostly cooked stuff. For awhile I couldn't handle any rice, so I ate none of it. Now I get miso, soy and wasabi cravings. I like the edamame too.

I like sushi, but don't do much rice these days either. There is a great sushi place near my work that has what they call the Hayward Roll (in Hayward, CA). It is crab and unagi (both cooked) and something else i can't remember wrapped in cucumber instead of rice! I love this. I order it with the creamy spicy sauce on it. yummy.

Next time you are in the SF bay area on business, let me know and we can go have these and some miso!

Or if you area and want to go on your own, the place is called Ray's Sushi on 'A' Street in Hayward.
