I can't get Flash CS3 to cooperate. I just need to make a damn button.
I have the groups named, I'm on my layer, it's defined as a button. Why is this SO dang hard. I'm going to kill someone. Flash and I have an abusive love/hate relationship. Right now it's ultimatum time!! I'm so behind at work. Save me!
Here's the deal. It's hard because I'm not working at 300% like normal. I'm used to being the superhero of my job. Now I'm not. I can't remember stuff I used to do in my sleep because I HURT. Because maybe I should not be back full time. I just,..I need,..I love,..I want my job. They need me too. I'll be ok, just times like this are so frustrating. I could do this just 6 months ago and now I look at it confused.
hey, did you get my email yesterday?
Darn. Grey leopard or the sparkly black? Both are very me. :)
sparkly black, definitely :)
I have the same relationship with Flash hehe.
What's the problem?
Well, I have these symbols that are buttons. All I want is a simple "go to URL" on click and a "hover" state, but I'm getting no name in the properties even though I assigned one, and I can't remember even though it is DEFINED as button how I get my button states again?
How do I get to that place where it shows me the states? I'm lost without a map is the exact problem. I know the things I want to see, but how to get there? I'm now on Windows and I'm used to the Mac, but my Mac is down, so I think that's 1/2 the issue.
To get to the button states (I assume you mean the four up, over, down and click keyframes) you should only have to double click the button on your main timeline or click on it in the panels on your right.
Double check that the symbols are buttons.
Also, if you defined the button in anything else but the main timeline I don't think you will see the name you defined in the property inspector of the main timeline, although it is still defined.
When you do your programming it should go through and find the defined button, but this always gets a bit tricky.
I'm not 100% sure this is what is going on but feel free to ask more.
I may be using the term "define" incorrectly. By define I don't mean "create" I just mean assigning it a name in the property inspector.
I knew exactly what you mean. You mean click and type a name in property then click enter, right?
Thank you! I'm going to GO HOME, put some ice on my swollen belly incisions, and try this on my laptop there. I bet my luck will be better then. I do know how to make a basic button, but I'm losing my mind at this point and the pain is competing too much for brain space.
Yeah, something like Flash seems to require a good bit of concentration. There are soooo many ways to mess up and forget or not do little things that totally screw everything up.
I hear you on the pain becoming a distraction. Well, distraction is probably not a strong enough word here haha.
