Probable Diagnosis [Jun. 23rd, 2008|03:03 pm]

UPDATE: The xrays did NOT agree. Now I have some kind of "spine moblity problem with nerve disfunction" but without a name. Argh!

New information has come to light considering my nerve function and chronic pain problem. It's not yet confirmed, but very probable that I have servere spinal spondylolisthesis in addition to my confirmed endometriosis. In fact, it was so extreme that they had to do the test 3 times because when the doctors met to discuss my case they couldn't believe that was the true shape of my spine. It's extremely exciting to be on the verge of proper treatment. It is NOT fatal and can be treated.

I could be much better soon, but it will take a few years. Now, no more somethingosis. I've got my fair share now!

I am so glad that you are finally getting things pinned down, I can't imagine anything worse than the guessing game that you have been playing especially when there is so much pain involved.

It is just wonderful that my doctor keeps going to seminars and learning more. This "swedish spinal mouse" test is really cutting edge. It's what allowed him to get a new look at my spine.

It doesn't make it hurt any less, but it IS nice to put a name to it, right?

Crap! xrays disputed the other test. So frustrating. :( No diagnosis.

They are close, but the xrays did NOT show any spondylolisthesis. So frustrated that they made me have a high pain day and STILL no new diagnosis. :(

Ugh! Just got xray results and they do NOT show spondylolisthesis, so I'm the 10%!! So frustrating. I spoke too soon.

Oh dear God. But they did see major problems, though. They're not discountng that are they?

Yes they did see problems for sure. They are going to get me into treatment just as soon as I'm healed from the surgery. Doctor is also going to work on the pain treatment.

so have you only had an xray or have you had a MRI? i used to be a clinical coordinator for a worker's comp insurance carrier so i have some experience w/this diagnosis--workers comp sees a lot of back injuries. it's been a few years and i no longer have access to the medical literature but i could swear that we could not authorize treatment based on xray alone for spondylolisthesis--it's only reliably diagnosed by MRI. if someone's case came through with diagnosis based on just an xray we had to deny it.
