Went on a beautiful walk to the arboretum in Maple Valley. It's turned out to be an amazingly pretty day. However, my Mom didn't fully understand my physical capability and we had to walk for well over an hour. I was limping so bad and in so much pain I couldn't really talk by the end of it.
We got home and I immediately put on the maximum Lidocaine patches (3 of them) and they are WORKING! Yes! They don't help the deep nerve pain, but all of the muscles are flared up so bad and cramping and now half are somewhat numb! It is amazing to have something that sort of helps without making me groggy. Maybe if I wear them 3 at a time all the way down my leg on flare up days it might help a great deal! I may ask for more of them if they are going to help this much.
I'm trying hard to eat more as I'm still just 1lb above the "minimum allowable" weight. Even a little less pain helps the nausea. I wish the doctor would give me just one more pain pill per day. It would help so much, but I'm just thankful that I have these patches now.

That is so frickin awesome that the patches are helping!!! I am really happy to see that. It sounded like a wierd treatment to me, so I didn't know how it would go.
Yes, an hour walk was a bit much. I would think that, with your own Mom, you'd feel comfortable speaking up about your limits more? I'm sorry if you felt like you couldn't, for some reason... but please remember that you are not a let down if you can't do everything other people want to do. You are more important than things like that.
It makes not so much sense that they are working, but they sort of DO! I have one down the side of my leg and one on the back of my hip and the areas around them hurt way worse than the areas I put the patch on, so I can tell how much they are helping! It's exciting to have something I can get access to, that isn't addictive, that lasts 12 hours actually contributing anything at all to the pain control. It's giving me some hope!
What happened was we had to walk back because the trail wasn't a loop, and I didn't ask to turn around until too late. Next time I need to bring a watch and keep it to 30 minutes. I have a watch, but the battery died. I want to get it fixed because the watch was a gift from my work. It's pretty cool! I think I just need to buy a battery.
I wish you weren't dancing tonight because I'd love to hang out but I'm not up to dancing.

To tell you the truth, I am not all that jazzed about dancing either. I haven't even heard back from Angela, so I guess she's not up for it. I hope I can relax and have fun. I'm nervous because they got "better" lighting over the stage (meaning I'm going to be a lot more lit up, which makes me self conscious). And I am not feeling super energetic. It's an hour and a half of aerobics! I hope I'm not totally dead tomorrow.
I am going to Folklife tomorrow - would you want to go with me?
I'm starting ballroom dancing class tomorrow with Craig, so there is no way I can do folklife, but I'm really looking forward to you guys coming over in the evening! See you then!
I am glad that something is helping you!!! Hey, I have a question, what about hot baths or hot tubs? Does that help you at all? The reason I asked is because if they do help then maybe you could look into buying a hot tub for your house?
I have an awesome bath tub! Taking a bubble bath is one of the main ways I DO keep pain under control as well as the stress of pain. This month is the first time though that I've been so bad it didn't work. EVen in the hot bath I wasn't able to make it better. Bathtub is better than hot tub because even cleaning a bath tub makes my pain worse, so maintaining a hot tub is out of the question, not to mention we can't afford one right now. Luckily my bathtub is the BOMB and Craig will clean it for me sometimes if I remind him and ask.
Maybe I should buy you some BeautiControl Bath Minerals, they are so totally cool and they make you feel so good! I LOVE them.
I'm a total lush addict. I have many a bath bomb and bubble bar. :) I have to be careful what I put in the tub though because of the rash problem (only until my LBL) and also because it hurts me to clean the tub, so if it leaves stains I can't use it.
