Not Being in Pain-Ode to Lyrica [Mar. 25th, 2008|10:47 am]

[Current Mood |excitedexcited]

It's like a miracle. When I wake up in the morning I feel rested, and not like my legs is on fire. I can exercise and the next day not feel so bad that it's hard to concentrate. I can eat a meal finally without feeling nauseated the whole time because of the pain. I can concentrate when other people talk to me. When I'm walking I can listen and my only thought isn't "I've got to get off of my feet it hurts so bad!"

In short, I feel like I can do anything because I can. I'm loving having a break from nerve pain. Knowing that the cost is occasional tremors for 10 minutes and occasional feeling high as a kite for 10 minutes every 3-5 days, I'm willing to pay. The other cost is, I can't be on this medication and try to have a baby. The last cost is OMG it is expensive. If I ever lose my insurance I'll be off of this stuff in less than 2 months it costs so much.

But: It IS a MIRACLE to me. I am inspired to write them a thank you letter it is making such a difference in my life. I give them A+++++ would buy drugs again.

In frivolity, I bought a limited edition Playboy MAC glitter cream for way too much money. I'm excited for it to arrive.

Soon I'll post all of my makeup secrets. Less pain is a HUGE makeup secret as is just having good skin (a huge effort on my part, let me tell ya).

LOL at the A+++. Keep in mind that if you ever ARE uninsured, the drug companies have those free-drug programs, and they also love to pile doctors with free samples (which the docs then give out to their uninsured and under-insured folks). So try not to worry.

Can't take while pregnant... OOF! As if a pregnancy doesn't cause enough body problems all on its own without that on top of it! Well, I guess you'll cross that bridge when you get to it. Maybe by then they'll have a pregnancy-safe version.

I can't tell you how happy I am for you that the Lyrica is doing the job. I've got teary eyes now. I just can't imagine the immense relief and total soul relaxation that must happen when constant pain finally eases. There can't be a better feeling in the whole world. "Yay" doesn't really seem to cover the sentiment, but well, Yay!

P.S. Double-plus cute avatar to the extreme! :-)

Thank you! I know that while I may not be able to stay on the lyrica forever, and it may not work forever, the fact that it is helping now is a true blessing and I hope to make the most of it!

I'm really glad Lyrica has helped you so much! That's so good to hear. I can tell just by looking at you too that you feel better. You seem so much more happy. :)

Who is the model in your new icon!?

Hahaha! The model is a girl who didn't shower for 2 days. Man, I thought they were crazy to recommend not washing your hair every day, but now I'm hooked.

I'm delighted to be feeling better. What a relief. I just hope it lasts.

I thought I had to wash mine daily, but I tried a few tricks that worked. One was, either straighten or curl it the first day (natural doesn't work). Then fluff it on the 2nd day or touch it up.

There's that open-mouth model pose again.
Glitter cream? Hmmmm!

You can see the teeth, now you can't. Ahhh, being a cam whore is so fun. The dirty bedhair is amusing to me.

If you ever get the chance to buy MAC glittercream in a nice shade of pink that works for you, buy in bulk. They have a habit of discontinueing it and putting in really ugly orange shades instead which remind me of old ladies in Florida.

The hair is the best part. And your beautiful eyes. I am not so much a fan of the consciously-open-mouthed pose.

I've never seen MAC Glittercream! Is that what they call it? I'll have to keep my eyes peeled. Right now they have their Heatherette collection. Very PINK.

I seriously do have my mouth open when I look at stuff. I could catch flies. Anywhoo, I'm comfortable with my teethes, so I show them often. I think that is strange to some folk.

They are as fake as my lipgloss. ;)

I had braces and I have like 10 crowns (ouch) Bad bad teeth and much pain to get them livable.

That's just awesome beyond words. Sucky about the pregnant thing though.

I'm very very glad though, that you're not in constant pain. That spoon article really spoke to me. Sometimes I pause in my day and reflect on the fact that I don't have to wonder how many spoons I have left, and I am properly greatful. I think before I lost weight though, I subconsiously did this.

It's amazing how much more energy I have. I totally take it for granted now.

I'm glad you have more spoons now.

Each day I wake up I totally notice. I'm going to have to remind myself of this great thing on a regular basis. We are so lucky to have health. It really is so important.

*hugs* It is thrilling! I have to still take my other medications, as over time it may impact my vision, in which case I'd have to stop taking it, but it is a major breakthrough.

I have a followup with my doctor today. I'm just hoping next time I go to San Mateo it stays this good.
