Putting the as$ in Comcas$t [Jan. 16th, 2008|07:59 am]

Well, my cable was down all of last night, but it now is up again. Craig and I hate f*****n comcast even more now. Alas, money to switch to DirectTV is low and internet switching can't happen today (i wish). I have more to say, but I suppose it will be friends locked.

I hope I never have to work in support for Comcast. The number of hostile customers must be discouraging. I try to always be pleasant any of the 87 million times I have to call them.

Comcast Story.
We cancelled them because they sucked as$ about 18 months ago. I won't go into the story, but heres the kicker. We got SBC internet, and got rid of crapcast. I just got a BILL from crapcast for cable service for Jan.-Feb. 08. HUH? WTF? I mean we have not lived there for 6 months, and cancelled them 18 months ago. Thats great isn't it????

It's comcastic. I used to LOVE their digital TV at least. Now the DVR and menu system is painfully slow and the stability has gone way down.

I find your recent frustrations so strange, all last year I would have agreed with you completely--but my service in the last six months has improved so considerably I no longer curse my television on a nightly basis.

It could be that they did upgrades that haven't yet made it out to MV. Do your folks have Comcast?

They do, but only basic basic cable. Though they haven't had any complaints on the internet front--and they use Vonage for their phone service through the cable.

I'm pretty happy with my service. No, it's not perfect, but you can't expect perfection. Maybe you're right about upgrades that haven't reached MV yet? I hope? They're even good enough to lower my rates whenever I call and threaten to go somewhere else.

It isn't at all subtle on the digital cable. It freezes for up to a full minute so we can't change channels or turn it off. It refuses to respond at all. It's crazy making even for Craig and you KNOW how much more patient he is than I am.

Mine used to do that too until one time I called in when all the programs on the DVR were totally blank a few months ago. They did something to fix that (reset my box?) and I haven't had those problems since.

O, I'm going to try to get a new DVR if I feel up to it today. I called in sick today for the second day in a row. :(

My husband works for Microsoft down here and they were working on the cable boxes software for Comcast. The new software got sent out up in WA and at that point, Comcast prematurely ended their contract with Microsoft, thinking they had what they needed. Of course, they didn't know the codes, so when they tired to use the software on their own, it didn't work properly. This gave Microsoft a bad reputation because all of these people thought that the reason the software didn't work properly was MS's fault when indeed Comcast had never fully allowed the software to integrate their systems before they ended the contract.

Comcast is evil and I know that we for one will be going with DirectTV.
