Distraction [Sep. 30th, 2007|08:06 am]

[Current Mood |worriedworried]

In good news, Midnight drank some water last night. He doesn't appear to be in pain. The bad news is he still isn't eating, not even the soft food we got especially to lure him into eating. He still threw up twice last night despite not eating for more than 2 days.

I finally went shopping with my Mom yesterday (before the vet appointment). I bought 2 pairs of size 8 jeans because I tried them same pairs in size 10 and the 8's fit better. Who would have thought I'd ever own any clothes in single digits? It wasn't so long ago that not even my shoe or underwear size were single digit. Awesome. I also bought a beautiful black hooded wool peacoat, so I'm going to be WARM this winter, and to top that off, the coat was a bargain.

It looks like this coat, in the same brand. Even on Overstock.com it's STILL $130. At Nordstrom they are $270.

I got this in black.

Seams on the back.

I paid $70 for my coat new at Marshall's (My new favorite store because the Misses dept rules even though the Plus Size department there is awful). It is in perfect condition! I hope it lasts many years (and I'll still wear this size for many years). I can't believe it took me 1.5 cold years to find a winter coat I like since shrinking out of mine. This was the FIRST coat I tried on and it was so perfect on me that I didn't try on any others. I love the way it is really curvy and fits my body. I look a size smaller than wearing my normal baggy hoody because you can tell I actually have a shape to me. It is more flattering on than the picture shows because I have more curves than the plastic models in the photo, so you can really see the seaming.

The down side? I wear a 34 C bra. :( I miss my DD cup.

Ok, can't be distracted anymore. So worried about kitty. At least he is drinking. We were told to watch him again today, look for the signs, but if he is drinking and using the litter box still (even if it is less than usual) and his skin doesn't stay up when you pinch it (dehydration), we are to wait until Monday's test results are in. I can't help but feel like we aren't DOING anything for the sick little guy. We are just sitting here watching him be this ill? I just want to do something to help him feel better.

L, is there only 1 litterbox or 2 for 2 cats? I've heard that can be a problem if you only have 1 (not that I'm saying that could be the cause).

*hug*

We have 2 litter boxes, but they only use one. Kitty drank water, used the litterbox AND ate some wet food this morning!! We are very encouraged. *hugs*

Kitties are very resilient but understated when they're sick. If they don't know the problem, giving the wrong medications could be the worst thing to do - because unlike humans, they can't really give you much feedback on how the medication makes them feel. So, just loving him and making sure he has a clean litter box and fresh water could be the best for him.

And the coat is adorable - I had something like that last winter, also in black, and even in a size 16, I could already start seeing my curves! So, I think that I'll be looking for something similar for this winter too - but in a smaller size!!!!

He is getting better this morning and even drank a bunch of water, used his litter box, and ate some wet food! We are celebrating and feeling way more hopeful. If it really was kidney failure, usually they can't drink and pee like he just did, so it's a good sign. He looks alot more comfortable than Friday night already.

I must have tried on over 100 coats last year, and this one is by far the best fit for my body and I love the classic style. I have on my size 8 jeans this morning, and I must admit, the waist band is a little bit tight (slight muffin top). They usually stretch a tiny bit when you wear them though.

You're absolutely right, it doesn't sound like kidney failure. Could he have gotten into something toxic like cleaning or painting supplies? Regardless, sounds like whatever it was is working out of his system - YAY!!!!

That was the first thing we thought of, but our cleaning supplies are up in a child locking cabinet and he hasn't been outside. We keep all of the painting stuff in the garage, and he is never out there (we keep him in the house).

He just ate soft food and has been acting much more like himself today. I'm so hoping he continues to improve like this!

Sounds like he's on the mend!! It's hard when you feel helpless, and sometimes all you can do is be there to comfort him. I hope he gets better really quickly!

Also, that jacket is really cute. =)I love peacoats!

Josh had this problem before (he had kidney problems his whole life of 15 years). What worked for him and eating was tuna juice. Buy canned tuna in water. Pour off the juice into a bowl, leave the bowl for Midnight. If Midnight drinks it, great! Pour some a little bit of tuna and water into a blender and then put down that liquid for him. Increase the dosage of tuna as his stomach can tolerate. If he really likes the first tuna juice, but not the blended stuff, I've been known to spoil my sick kitty rotten by purchasing several cans of tuna in water and just giving him the water.

I hope he feels better soon.
