Ahhhh! OMG GOAL!! [Sep. 9th, 2007|07:05 am]

Yesterday was amazing and I loved the housewarming. But, for the first time ever, today, I'm not overweight. Yes, you heard it here first. Me, at goal weight. Whoa. I have never, in life, ever, made a goal weight.

You may ask, is this "an ideal weight"? It sort of is. I have 15-20lbs extra skin that must be removed, but I am 6lbs above a "normal" BMI, which means once my extra skin is gone I'll be in the middle of my BMI range. This is the goal weight set by my doctor as ideal, but his goal was 35lbs higher that he was hoping I'd get down to instead. Now I've lost 100% excess weight! I'm not hoping to lose anymore at all, because I no longer look better when I lose. I start looking kind of sick and hollowed out. My collar bones could cut glass, plus, I want to still have a booty to shake. I'm enthused though.

Plus, I got my hair done yesterday and it's very large. Do you think it's the haircut that made the 1lb difference? Ha!

This means I've lost 104lbs since last March. That's a total of 155lbs from my highest weight.

Thank you! I did hear from Craig that I was a bit out of line (sadly) at the end of the party. I hadn't eaten and started drinking wine. :( I hope I can get myself out of the doghouse. Sometimes I think "Well, I can't have the calories from both, so more wine!" Not such a good idea. Sheepish about that.

We got so many amazing gifts! My mother got us a wheelbarrow for the yard, which we really need since we've never had a yard before.

Surgery is helpful in this, but there is a 20% failure rate for sure, and the majority of people gain some back if they get to goal. It is going to take major work on my part, and I know it. Some people think that if you have surgery it just magically stays off, but that is just a myth.

maybe its the thought that you paid so much and invested so much effort and pain to get if off this time that helps some from gaining it back? ugh..no easy answers thats for sure.

Well, I think lots of the result is surgery, especially since you continue to malabsorb food. That's why you have an 80% chance of keeping weight off vs a 2% chance. I'm ok with it if my weight varies some, but I don't want it to get to an unhealthy level again since I'm not starting out with ideal health to begin with. I totally agree though, I wish it was easier. Getting to a goal weight is just a beginning.

I'm just so glad that I had surgery. I know that with my pain situation there was little chance of me reducing my weight long term to a healthy level, and really, the health thing is the most important.
