In preparation of moving, yesterday we clipped Midnight's nails and put softpaws on him.
It went so badly that I had to hold him in "ferral cat" position so that he would stop biting Craig. I created a "kitty burrito" out of the blanket to stop little kicking kitty feet. Of course, just as soon as we let him go, he managed to pry off one of the soft paws. By the morning he is JUST FINE. He's so difficult and squirmy, and honestly, does not want anyone touching his paws.
We want to make sure that when the cats meet he doesn't kill the 16 year old geriatric Ashley. I've tried telling her that she is about to have a young strong black man in her life, and that it's time to get her groove back, but she isn't listening. She doesn't want any young kitties around disturbing her retirement. I've told them both that we aren't considering feline opinions in the moving situation, and that much like the Brady Bunch they will have to just get along, or fight, whatever, but they ARE living together.
I may have amusing cat videos to post in 3 more weeks when we move. Hopefully in that time we can get Midnight to accept the softpaws. I'm not going to allow him to shred my new furniture. They both only have the softpaws on their front paws and desipte his behavior, I can promise you that they do NOT hurt the kitties. They can still retract their claws normally, they just aren't as sharp as natural claws. They are like Lee Press on Nails for Cats. While we were doing it, from the way Midnight acted, you would have thought we were ripping his nails out rather than just putting a little covering on them.
