Craig and I just finished season 3 on DVD. The computer talk in the show just slays us. I wonder if they have ever run a script by anyone with any computer knowledge. Here are some of our favorites.

1. Send it to my screen. HA!
2. Chloe needs all of the processing power that she can get. Redirect all open nodes to her screen. (You see, open nodes does equal processing power).
3. They are trying to corrupt the internet!
4. A virus opens up a seperate window and starts wildly scrolling in red.
5. Open up a socket.

I can't think of all of them off of the top of my head, but as much as we love 24, it is very distracting and makes us giggle.

Season 3 is my favorite season so far. The scenes with Tony and Michelle were just beautiful and the acting was great.

Before we know it, they may actually try to download the internet on that show.

I'm pretty good at just ignoring that stuff (I go into "suspent all reality" mode), but my hubby gets *sooo* frustrated, he can barely stand to watch. His other "favorite" is CSI -- he is convinced they have never consulted real police people for the show! Oh, and one I even pick up on -- when the guns click after they run out of bullets -- but they're the ones without hammers, and would never click in real life!!!

I don't know anything about guns, but the computer stuff drives us batty. It's a fun show.

I think that the way they do the computer stuff in 24 would sort of fool 80% of people.

I know just enough about computers for that not to seem realistic, but usually I can't say specifically what is wrong with the scenarios... sometimes though it's painfully wrong. I think the cop stuff fools most non-cop people too, but it drives hubby batty that it does fool people to believe that police departments have such state-of-the-art technologies and that they can really do all those tricks to catch killers off the dna from a single fiber, and that they always have all the answers. Most such cases take months and years to solve, if ever, but they always have stuff neatly wrapped up in the alotted hour.

It doesn't seem at ALL realistic in 24, but it still is very fun to watch. Some of the stuff, though, is real, like trying to weigh danger of your own life vs. danger of other people and having to go into tough situations. Of course, in 24 it is every 10 seconds and the highest drama possible, but that sort of thing (the danger) does come with law enforcement work.

Yeah, that's why I do like shows like that but hubby usually leaves the room shaking his head! LOL!!!

Re: The Nurse...

House and Scrubs are my favorite medical shows, although, I get tired of House because it's SO predictable.

Re: The Nurse...

The "scrubs musical" this season just killed me! The song "guy love" I played over and over.

Woohoo! Done with Season 3! It WAS a great season, but I still am very partial to Season 1 due to the end. Even with the amnesia, heh. But I really liked the end of Season 3 too where he just breaks down. Shows that Jack IS human and he DOES have feelings. And wasn't Saunders a great villian?

What time will you be home tonight? Ruth wants Season 3 and since you're done with it I thought that I'd swing by on the way up to her place to watch the show tonight. And I was thinking that maybe Wednesday we can get together to watch some Season 4?

I can't Wednesday, but I can tonight, Tues, or Thurs. I'll be home at 6:30 or 7pm. I have to go grab a prescription on my way home after the train.

OK, tonight won't work for swinging by then. How about if I come by after work tomorrow? We'll watch some 24! And get some dinner.

I couldn't BELIEVE that thing with Chapelle. I mean, I thought that was messed up, and didn't accomplish anything.

I completely agree with you. It was total BS. They just wanted to get rid of his character I think.

What's the context of "open up a socket"? I have a feeling that's an instance of "I overheard some computer dude say something about 'opening a socket' once, so I will just include it, without consulting with our tech adviser as to what it actually means". :)

And all the sending to screens would make sense if they were on a VAX...but of course they are not :)

I believe the context was to give her more "processing power".

They did open sockets to send information to the field and to Jack's laptop, and that did seem to make sense.

The one that made us laugh the most was "They are trying to corrupt the entire internet!" I smirked and said, "Isn't it a little late for that? I believe the porn is already out there."

I had to confess to Craig that I cheated due to Jack Bauer. I couldn't wait to watch the next episode!

Heheheh! Hubby and I (we both work in IT) have the same discussion. But for Jack, I'll let IT slide. Har har. Bad pun. ;)
